Pycana^® Insecticide / Miticide for the nursery, greenhouse, and agricultural markets, is a combination product containing pyrethrins and canola oil. Pycana provides quick knockdown of many insects and mites including aphids, leafhoppers, earwigs, plant bugs, psyllids, mealybugs, thrips, whiteflies, and spider mites and can be used on ornamentals, fruits, vegetables, and herbs grown in greenhouses, shadehouses, hoophouses, and container grown nurseries.

Pycana combines two active ingredients with different modes of action which is especially important where varying methods of control are necessary to maintain adequate control in multiple application scenarios. Pyrethrins are sodium channel modulators and affect the permeability of nerve-cell membranes leading to hyper-excitation, tremors and paralysis. Canola oil kills by suffocation, disrupting physical processes. Canola oil also provides control of contacted eggs by suffocation and may also kill pests by disrupting their feeding on oil covered surfaces.

Pycana has a very flexible label, carries a CAUTION signal word, and is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) as suitable for organic production. This makes it suitable in both organic and conventional programs.
