International Residue Exemptions

Neudorff is pleased to announce that Japanese authorities have confirmed that both iron phosphate and iron EDTA are covered by the Japanese Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) exemption for iron on the list of Substances Having No Potential to Cause Damage to Human Health. Growers exporting to Japan may safely use Sluggo, Ferroxx, and IronFist slug and snail baits with no risk to the marketability of their produce in that important and sensitive market.

Additionally, at this time the authorities in South Korea have stated that they will, in general, honor the US exemption (40 CFR Part 180.1302) for iron EDTA. South Korea does not maintain its own list of exempted substances and reserves the right to impose such a list in the future. Neudorff will make every effort to see that its products are exempted from MRLs in this and all export markets as regulations change and new regulations are imposed.

Maximum Residue Limits have become an important part of successful agricultural commodity marketing; complicated regulations have led to confusion in determining MRLs for export markets. Neudorff prides itself on providing growers and applicators with powerful, effective materials that are exempt from MRLs in the US and other export markets and strives to maintain up-to-date information on the exempt status of these products.

Pesticides that are residue exempt (zero MRL) provide growers and food distributors with flexibility as to where they can sell their produce on a global level. More and more retail food stores and end-users are concerned about food safety and are demanding produce that is grown with residue exempt inputs such as Sluggo, Ferroxx and Iron Fist.

Neudorff is committed to supporting and defending these exemptions and to keeping our valued users informed regarding the status of Neudorff products.

Ants Added to Seduce® and Bug-N-Sluggo® Insect Bait Labels

April 12, 2016—Seduce®, Bug-N-Sluggo®, and Sluggo Plus T&O® insect baits have been approved by the U.S. EPA and California’s DPR for use on ants. The improved UV- and rain-resistant compressed bait pellets provide control of several ant species, cutworms and earwigs. These fast-acting products knock back ant populations in less than 48 hours. Bug-N-Sluggo and Sluggo Plus T&O also contains iron phosphate for the control of snails and slugs.

The dry pellets, which are now a terra-cotta color, are easy to apply, unlike some sticky competitor baits that can be more troublesome to accurately apply. Seduce and Bug-N-Sluggo have 4-hour reentry intervals and on almonds can be used up to the day before harvest. They are OMRI® Listed and NOP approved, so they can be used in organic production, as well as conventional farming.

Seduce and Bug-n-Sluggo are distributed by Certis USA into the crop and T&O markets. Brandt distributes Sluggo Plus T&O into landscape, nursery, golf and other non-crop markets.

Fiesta vs. Thistle

2014—Fiesta is great for use on common broadleaf weeds like dandelion and chickweed but what about hardy eyesores like thistle? We recently heard from EngageAgro USA, who sent us this photo of thistle two days after a low rate (2.5 gallons per 1000 ft2) application of Fiesta Turf Weed Killer on Long Island, NY.

It reminded us of a similar photo from a year ago. Nutri-Lawn in Toronto sprayed this bull thistle with Fiesta Lawn Weed Killer and got some amazing results.

Dramatic Results from Fiesta in Newfoundland

On May 30, 2013, expert lawn care company Nutri-Lawn sprayed a residential lawn in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, with Fiesta Lawn Weed Killer, Neudorff’s selective, broadleaf weed killer.

Image of lawn with large amounts of dandelions interspersed.

Seven days elapsed, then Nutri-Lawn staff returned to ensure their hard work achieved a satisfying result for the customer. They were not disappointed.

Image of the same lawn but showing just lush, green lawn. No more dandelions.

In very short order, Fiesta and Nutri-Lawn turned a heavily weeded patch of turf into an enviable, lush, and most importantly, weed-free lawn, just in time for the summer.
